Your Restaurant Doesn’t Have To Fail

In Life on October 7, 2013 at 4:18 pm

The enclosed video I produced on the fly was inspired by something I saw in Palm Springs that had me on SMH mode for an entire day. A new restaurant opened on Palm Canyon Drive without a shred of pre promotion or utlilization of the minimum 15 free platforms available to them to announce its existence. Of course, the place is empty everytime I drive by the sad space. It then reminded me of the things established but failing players are not doing to meet the new reality of doing business in the social media age.

There is an entire generation of diners coming who won’t frequent your venue unless you have a real-time relationship with them.

Don’t believe me? Ok. Do nothing. But plan your retirement – your venue won’t be open much longer.

Bring Back The Dessert Carts

There aren’t many of the classic, Old School houses left. The power lunch venues where the deal making, celebrations, trysts, social life are played out weekly, hosted by Front Of House personalities everyone wants to be attended by, trusted to have “their” table ready when they arrive.

Small format, neighborhood places serving shareable plates and served by tattooed artists are great, but there will come a time when you’ll want an expertly stirred martini delivered by something called a Captain.

Trust me.
