Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner just gave the best awards show acceptance speech ever

Britain’s answer to the Grammys, affectionally called the BRIT Awards, took place Wednesday night at London’s O2 Arena. In addition to performances from Beyoncé, Arctic Monkeys, Pharrell, and a collaboration between Lorde and Disclosure, several awards were handed out.

Arctic Monkeys were among the big winners, earning Best British Group and British Album of the Year. Upon winning the latter, frontman Alex Turner gave the speech of the century:

“That rock and roll, eh? That rock and roll, it just won’t go away. It might hibernate from time to time, sink back into the swap. I think the cyclical nature of the universe in which it exists demands that acquiesce to some of its rules.
